Cardboard Boxes
These boxes came to life in response to the storage and containment practices of high-end art as commodity. Often, highly valued art is stored in warehouses in cardboard boxes between auctions to help retain the work’s commodified value. However, these boxes have come to symbolize so much more in my eyes. The cardboard box— an often overlooked, ubiquitous, and disposable utilitarian work-horse, is rife with metaphor as a vessel, the body, and capitalism. Utilizing solid wood to render these lifelike objects flips our preconceived notions of the value, utility, and meaning of this invaluable everyday item.

These boxes are hand crafted and each is unique in material and form. Commissions for boxes are welcome!
